History Camp!

This summer at the Homestead, we will be introducing young learners to what life was like as a Colonial settler with our Homestead History Program. This pilot program will be a “trip back in time” immersion in hands-on exploration and learning about life in the 18th century.

This immersive program is one week long, from 9 to 12:30 daily. The program is offered for ages 7-12 and cost is $200 per child:

• June 27 – July1
• July 11 – 15
• August 1 – 5

On Friday, families are invited to share in the experience while their children offer them a tour, a short demonstration of skills mastered, and delicious refreshments.

Activities may include :

• Learn to write with a quill pen and make their own ink
• Learn about cooking over an open hearth
• Develop skills in making textiles, including wool carding and spinning, weaving nets, etc.
• All about water! Experience dowsing techniques, haul water for cleaning and cooking, do laundry without modern technology.
• Learn about 18th century games, and how to play them.
• Develop skills in homestead crafts and use those skills to create things that they can take home.
