DESCRIPTION:Fall harvesting marks the beginning of the big push to get r
 eady for winter here in Maine and the Camden-Rockport Historical Society
  invites you to celebrate the season with us on Saturday\, October 7 fro
 m 10-4.\n\n\n\nMultiple historical harvest activities\, demonstrations a
 nd treats will take place alongside the demonstrations. The historical i
 nterpreters of Early Camden Living History :  Maine Historical Interpret
 ers 1770-1790 will be here at the homestead in period clothing\, discuss
 ing and demonstrating various 18th-century skills such as medicine\, can
 dle dipping\, apple drying\, shingle making and fire starting with flint
  and steel.In addition\, members of the “militia” will have talks on
  Penobscot Bay during the American Revolution\, including displays of th
 e arms and equipment a local soldier was expected to carry. Periodically
 \, there may be some military drumming.\n\n\n\nChildren’s activities i
 ncluding face painting will occur alongside demonstrations of early craf
 ts such as rug hooking\, spinning and weaving\, quilting and blacksmithi
 ng and making bait bags. The current Textile Exhibit in the museum will 
 be open as will the Homestead.Vendors exhibiting and selling historical 
 and harvest-relevant crafts\, and a sale of apple and pumpkin baked good
 s will top off the day.\n\n\n\nThe Camden Rockport Historical Society’
 s  Museum and Homestead campus is located on Rt 1 near the Camden-Rockpo
 rt line\, just behind Hannaford supermarket.
